Widget plus light scanning

Switching from Elementor Ally to AccessVane

Ally ships to a very large number of Elementor sites and is easy to turn on, which is why half a million sites run it. Its own users rate it 2.9 out of 5. If it has not solved your problem, this explains why and what to do next.

What is on the public record

  • Around 500,000 active installs, with an average rating of roughly 2.9 out of 5 on WordPress.org.
  • It centres on a visitor-facing widget, which is the overlay pattern rather than a repair pattern.
  • Its scanning is lighter than a full axe-core pass, so failures it does not report can still be present.

How to switch without breaking anything

  1. 1

Scan a page with Ally still active so you can see what is left unfixed.

  2. 2

Install AccessVane and scan the same page. The findings will be more detailed because more rules run.

  3. 3

Turn on the repairs you want, then reload your site and check it looks right.

  4. 4

Once you are satisfied, deactivate Ally's widget. Do it deliberately, not overnight, if visitors have started using its preferences panel.

  5. 5

Work through the manual checklist. That is the part neither plugin can do for you.

In fairness to Elementor Ally

Ally is made by Elementor and integrates neatly with Elementor. If all you want is the widget, it is the path of least resistance. The rating suggests many people expected it to fix their site and found it had not.

Decide with your own data

Scan a page of your site. If Elementor Ally is installed, the report names it and lists what is still failing underneath.
