Wix accessibility: what you can and cannot control

Millions of small business sites

Wix has invested real effort here and gives you an accessibility checker in the editor. The constraint is that you control less of the output than on WordPress, so some fixes are simply not available to you.

What actually breaks on Wix

01Free-position layouts that break at zoom

Wix's drag-anywhere canvas produces layouts that overlap or clip once text is enlarged.

Where to fix it: Test at 200% zoom and on a real phone, then adjust the layout rather than the text size.

02Text rendered inside images

Text baked into a graphic cannot be read, enlarged or translated.

Where to fix it: Rebuild it as real text over a background image.

03Decorative animations on scroll

Motion that ignores the visitor's reduce-motion setting causes real discomfort for some people.

Where to fix it: Site settings, then reduce or remove scroll effects.

The encouraging part

Wix's built-in accessibility wizard catches the basics. Run it, then work through the manual checks it cannot perform.

Find out which of these apply to you

The scanner detects that you are on Wix and writes the repair steps for that setup. Free, about fifteen seconds, no signup.
